What is Sriracha Aioli?
Sriracha Aioli is a super creamy, zippy, and slightly spicy sauce. It is made with mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, lime juice, freshly grated garlic clove, and a pinch of salt. It is often called sriracha mayo.
I bet you’re wondering, what is Sriracha? Well, Sriracha Sauce is a combination of cayenne peppers, red jalapeno peppers, and garlic. It adds unbelievable flavor and a smooth heat. It pairs well with sweet, citrusy, fresh ingredients. This makes it the perfect partner to a homemade aioli.
Here’s A Quick Video Tutorial:
Sriracha Aioli Ingredients
MAYONNAISE: Use your favorite, just make sure you are not use Miracle Whip. I used a reduced fat olive oil mayo.
SRIRACHA SAUCE: I use Sky Valley brand because it has a great balance of flavor and spice without being too spicy (which I love). Feel free to use what you like, just keep in mind some sauces are spicier than others so you may have to alter the amount used.
LIME JUICE: Freshly squeezed lime juice tastes the best. Lemon juice can be used in it’s place but it will bring more acidity to your sauce.
FRESH GARLIC: Finely minced or grated clove so you do not get a big spicy bite of garlic. I do not recommend substituting garlic powder, the flavor just isn’t there.
SALT: This is going to help cut through the acidity (don’t skip this).
How to Make Sriracha Aioli in 2 Minutes
This spicy aioli is so quick and easy to make. Here is a quick overview of the steps, the recipe card below will have all the details.
ADD all the ingredients to a small bowl.
MIX TOGETHER until everything is well combined.
POUR into an airtight glass jar or container.
PRO TIP: Refrigerate the Sriracha Aioli sauce for at least 30 minutes for even better flavor!
Sriracha Aioli should always be stored in the refrigerator and in an airtight container. I prefer storing mine in a glass jar.
If stored properly, the spicy aioli sauce has the same life as the mayonnaise used (so check it’s expiration date). If unsure of expiration date, up to one month is a safe bet. Always check the sauce prior to using for mold spores and a foul smell.
How to Use Sriracha Aioli Sauce
I don’t think we have enough time to list ALL the things! Honestly it goes great with everything from proteins to vegetables. Here are a few of my favorite ways to use this spicy aioli sauce:
on various types of tacos- fish tacos, steak tacos, chicken tacos, vegetarian tacos
served with roasted or smoked veggies (brussels sprouts, cauliflower, asparagus, etc.)
as a salad dressing
with homemade sushi or crab cakes
