This iconic Cosmopolitan Mocktail (also known as a Cosmo) is classy, perfectly pink, and light in calories. It is easy to make, requires only 4 simple ingredients, and is a sweet yet tart balance of cranberry, orange, and lime flavors.

Did I mention this mocktail has two versions?! One with non alcoholic spirits (which is growing increasingly popular) and one without.

Why You’ll Love This NON Alcoholic Cosmopolitan

  • THE COLOR- I mean come on, who doesn’t like a beautiful pink drink? It is perfect for Galentine’s day, bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, or at Sex and the City watch parties (since that is where it originated)!
  • TWO ALCOHOL FREE VERSIONS- The first uses non alcoholic spirits (which taste very similar to their alcoholic counterparts but with the alcohol removed) and the second is without non alcoholic spirits (just as delicious, but great if you are sober curious or do not have non alcoholic spirits on your bar cart).
  • ONLY 4 INGREDIENTS- No matter which version of this mocktail you make you will only need 4 ingredients. Easy right?
  • A LIGHT AND FRUITY MOCKTAIL- This Cosmo is not only super low in calories, it is a delicate balance between cranberry, orange, and lime flavors.

What Is A Cosmopolitan Mocktail?

A Cosmopolitan Mocktail is the non alcoholic version of Cosmopolitan (also known as a Cosmo). Now I know what you’re thinking, what is a Cosmopolitan?!

Well… the Cosmopolitan was founded on the popular TV show Sex and the City. I have to admit, it is one of my favorite shows, although I am not a huge fan of Carrie Bradshaw. But that is a story for a different day.

Anyways, the Cosmo is made with vodka, orange liqueur, cranberry juice, and a little bit of lime juice. It is simple, but SO delicious (with or without alcohol).

Cosmopolitan Mocktail Ingredients

This Non Alcoholic Cosmo has two different versions. The first uses non alcoholic spirits and the second does not. You choose what works best for you and what ingredients you have on hand. Either way, you will be sipping on a pretty in pink Cosmopolitan in no time!

With Non Alcoholic Spirits

  • Non Alcoholic Vodka: I use Seedlip Spice 94, it has a beautiful botanical flavor to it. Other varieties include Strykk, CleanCo, and Arkay (which I have not tested).
  • Non Alcoholic Orange Liqueur: I use and recommend Lyre’s Orange Sec, it is the best alcohol free version I know of.
  • Cranberry Juice: Use 100% juice not from concentrate and with no sugar added. Cranberry juice cocktail is not the same thing and it will make your mocktail super sweet and lacking in flavor.
  • Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed is the best. Bottled lime juices just do not cut it, BUT if you have to use bottled Santa Cruz Organics is the way to go.

Without Non Alcoholic Spirits

  • Tonic Water: I prefer Fever Tree tonic water because it is what I always have on hand. You can also use other neutral flavored or lime flavored carbonated beverages like mineral water, club soda, seltzer water, sparkling water, etc.
  • Orange Juice: Freshly squeezed tastes the best (and you only need one squeezed orange). If you go for bottled orange juice, make sure it contains no pulp and is 100% orange juice not from concentrate.
  • Cranberry Juice: see note above.
  • Lime Juice: see note above.
Ingredients. Non Alcoholic Vodka, Non Alcoholic Orange Liqueur, Cranberry Juice, Lime Juice, and Lime Garnish with Martini Coupe Glasses.

Equipment Needed

  • Cocktail Shaker: If you do not have a cocktail shaker, lidded jars and other types of lidded drink containers work just as well.
  • Martini Glasses: A Cosmo is famously served in petite martini glasses (like you see pictured) or coupe glasses. If you do not have either, any glass will do!

How To Make A Cosmopolitan Mocktail

This mocktail is so simple! Basically all you have to do is add, shake, and pour. The recipe card below will have all the details.

  1. Into a cocktail shaker add all the ingredients and ice.
  2. Shake 5 to 10 times.
  3. Pour into your glasses.
  4. Garnish with lime (if desired). This is a pretty and elegant way to garnish your Cosmopolitan Mocktail. I used this guide to learn how to make citrus twists. You can even use orange peel to make an orange twist! I also love to make these flower ice cubes!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

What are non alcoholic spirits?

Non alcoholic spirits are drinks that appear and taste very similar to their alcoholic counterpart. The majority of these spirits are made the exact same way as alcoholic spirits but undergo one final step. In this step the alcohol is removed so they contain little to no alcohol at all. To know if you are buying non alcoholic spirits, look for an ABV (alcohol by volume) between 0% and 5%.

Where can I buy non alcoholic (alcohol removed) spirits?

I purchase mine on Amazon because I live in a rural area and have a hard time finding them. I know a lot of local CVS stores are carrying them, as well as your local grocery stores, and even in some liquor stores. You can also purchase them online with other retailers.

How do I make this Cosmopolitan mocktail recipe a Cosmopolitan Cocktail?

It is super easy. Just replace the non alcoholic elements with alcoholic elements while keeping the juices the same. It would be 1 1/2 ounces of vodka, 3/4 ounces of orange liqueur or orange juice, 3/4 ounces of cranberry juice, and 1/2 ounce lime juice. Shake, pour, and sip.

I served this as a nonalcoholic option for Easter, and it was a hit! I went with the zero-proof spirits, and you wouldn’t know the difference. The color is so pretty too.
