Butter Dark Brown Sugar Heavy Whipping Cream Vanilla Extract Salt; optional for salted caramel
In a large glass measuring cup combine the butter, dark brown sugar, and heavy whipping cream. Microwave for 2 minutes. Remove and stir until smooth.
Microwave for 2 more minutes. Remove and whisk in the vanilla extract and salt. Whisk for a minute. Place in a glass container.
This caramel is thin when it is hot and thickens with chilling. Refrigerate until it reaches the consistency you like. Keeps in the refrigerator for up to one month.
